What is PORKCHOP?
Porkchop is a restaurant and bar that dishes out an urban interpretation of a Southern backwoods experience. It is an unapologetically unpretentious neighborhood party spot serving gourmet Southern comfort food and BBQ, and featuring an innovative ‘lowbrow’ bar program with some of the world’s top whiskeys. Porkchop serves brunch, lunch, dinner and latenight on Randolph Street, and provides service for all three meal periods and late into the evening at its Hyde Park location. The music is edgy and eclectic; live music is a steady feature in Hyde Park. Porkchop offers daily drink and food specials and features a sidewalk patio in the summer.

Meet the owner: Jovanis
Proprietor Jovanis Bouargoub, a native of Paris, describes Porkchop as a mashup of the French lust for living in the moment (AKA joi de vivre) and the quirkiness of rural counterculture. His goal is simple – be the instigator of great times in a relaxed, unapologetically unpretentious environment. Porkchop captures the eclectic influences of remote cultures hidden deep in the hills, and in urban neighborhoods well beyond the reach of the city lights.
Bouargoub’s establishment manages to capture this unique vibe, and mix it with playful takes on Southern comfort food, authentic no-nonsense spirits and funky musical sensibilities. In the course of an evening, visitors learn to savor the night like there’s no tomorrow… remembering all the while that tomorrow brings more surprises at Porkchop
